Mawani
Karim Mawani is an
innovator in the effective use of alternative dispute
resolution (ADR) techniques as an integral part of the
case resolution array of services available to his
clients.
Karim's formal interest in alternatives to the
court process began in 1993 when he attended a divorce
mediation course hosted by the Legal Education Society
of Alberta.
He has since supplemented his knowledge and
skills through the School of Law at Harvard University,
and now instructs at the Law Society of Alberta Bar
Admissions Course and with the Alberta Arbitration and
Mediation Society (AAMS) course where he leads sessions
on Med - Arb.
In addition he has been a guest lecturer
for the AAMS Arbitration Course and courses offered by
the Canadian Condominium Institute.
He offers a broad
range of resolution services including services as a
mediator, arbitrator, settlement counsel, coach,
development of dispute resolution strategies at the
individual and organizational levels, drafting of
dispute resolution clauses for use in settlement and
contractual documents and offers instruction and support
for those looking to gain competence in practical ADR
techniques.
Today's dispute
resolution practice requires the ability to evaluate the
alternatives to court room litigation in order to
determine which will most likely provide the most
efficient and cost - effective client focused solution
to the dispute or disagreement.
With many years of
experience before the Alberta Courts at all levels,
Karim can speak first hand of the advantages and
disadvantages of the formal litigation process. Clients
are advised on the available dispute resolution options
and are then assisted to determine and design the needed
combination of dispute resolution services needed to
reach the desired result.
Alternate dispute
resolution can be utilized at any stage of a dispute
prior to a binding and final solution having been
reached or received. It is never too late to take back
control over your life. |
